In for a dime, in for a Buck
So, yeah, here it goes: my first ever videogame (if we ignore that one puzzle game I made in Visual Basic 6 once). Made as a part of and thanks to a PixiJS course, I decided to create something I'm familiar with and passionate about: a rhythm game.
Buck 'n' Roll [name subjected to change] is a simple (and unfinished) project for a rather basic rhythm game, with its main highlight being the fact that players can use their own music to play the game, provided they manually create files the game can interpret through third party tools. The thematic of the game is that of a simple 2D 16bit-style retro game, and I personally decided to make it so that the songs that are already bundled with the game (although not directly accessible through the HTML game as of now) are chiptune-like songs.
As a prototype made across 3 months (with most development made in less than a month), and a first experience into game development, this is far from a decent playable game let alone anything groundbreaking or truly fun, but it nevertheless is a project I can take some pride in as my first-ever actual game.
What does the future hold for it? I don't know, the game's code is not particularly great, and further development might become increasingly harder to do. I do intend to make the game work properly, though, but whether this will ever be more than a prototype is highly dubious.
